The Life Teen Mission

Life Teen is a movement within the Roman Catholic Church to lead teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church.

Who is Life Teen for?

Life Teen welcomes all high school students to join us in this experience to know more deeply and live more truly our common life in Christ.

What is Life Teen?

Life Teen is a Catholic youth ministry program that began in 1985. Its founder developed the program out of a need he saw for young people to feel loved in the Catholic Church and to grow in their understanding and living out of their faith in Christ. Life Teen exists to offer young people a Catholic identity. This is accomplished in four main ways:

  1. a life formed in the Gospel as taught by the Church;
  2. a life centred in the Eucharist, especially in the weekly Sunday celebration;
  3. a life marked by a growing spiritual maturity and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; and,
  4. a life lived out in daily prayer, decisions and actions.

These four pillars of Life Teen are lived out by a spirituality that guides us in everything we do. Life Teen models seven Core Vales, prompted by the Holy Spirit:

  1. Eucharistic devotion;
  2. love;
  3. joy;
  4. affirmation;
  5. authenticity;
  6. evangelization; and,
  7. vocation discernment.

What We Do in Life Teen

The Life Teen ministry program is built around two events: the Mass and Life Night.

Once a month, teens gather with their family and friends for a Sunday Liturgy geared toward their spiritual needs. The youth take an active role in the liturgy as lectors, ushers, greeters and music ministers. Following this youth-oriented Mass, the teens attend Life Night which is an evening to go deeper in their faith, share their faith with their peers through witness talks and interactive discussions and learn how to deal with issues in a healthy and mature manner. These nights are presented by our Core Team made up of adults from the Parish under the direction of our youth ministry team.

On one day a week during the school year, the youth have the opportunity to gather for lunch. This time of fellowship consists of a teaching within an atmosphere of support and friendship.
